No doubt cyclists of any stripe, especially those wearing bicycle specific clothing such as skintight spandex or gaudily colored jerseys have been called all sorts of names by dumbell strangers in cars or even from slackers hanging around on the corner.

Annoying yes, taken seriously, no. Or at least not by people who choose to ignore insults screamed at them by strangers.
