What I enjoy about modern bike tech is that racing tech translates pretty quickly into retail sales. Thus in a few short years...we benefit by near affordable stuff/affordable cool stuff. Unlike most motorsports (excluding motorcycles) the tech takes a while to translate to you and you can't drive an F1 on the street.
I'll likely own a CF in my life though unlikely to be an MTB (crashing is expected) but definitely a screaming roadie. And I'll take care of it cause as I've aged I learned to treat my bikes well and extend their (and my) life.
