I got the urge to buy a 10 speed style bike. Friction shifting, suicide brakes, drop bars. Saw one that fit the bill at the lbs so I took it home. Thing is I forgot how bad single pivot brakes are, how pathetic the suicude levers leverage was and the bars were too narrow. Easy... change out to flat bars with sis pods... oops they have v hrake handles. No problem adapt that to work. Single pivots need upgrading. No problem.. get some duals that don't fit thanks to mounting holes that are too small. Ok dremel them out a bit. Ok now it fits but the pull ratio is off... but the pods all index nicely with tbe deraillers.

So I get a square peg to fit into a round hole... and its my mtb on 700c wbeels with calipers. Rides great, stops great, shifts perfect. I like to build them... but I probably could have purchased just that with muchess time and w.slightly lower cost.
