bud16415, i'm looking at it from the perspective of someone who is going to pay a shop to do the work. i've done things exactly like you're talking about and just dealt with the problems as they arose or abandoned the idea if it was going to cost too much to make it to work. it can be fun to tinker with things but not on shop labor rates. btw, it doesn't look that bad, i would personally remove the chainguard and ride the hell out of it.
