As others have said, the UP is incredible. We did a driving tour over 3 days this summer, and camped along Lake Michigan and Superior (above). Nothing could really prepare me for the awe of Superior, having lived near Lake Michigan for 30 years. This was our campsite as we setup at night. The next morning, around 5:00 a.m., we awoke to what I can only describe as an inland hurricane. It was somewhat terrifying, but amazing and beautiful as well. It was a good reminder that Superior and most of the great lakes are really inland seas.
