That's a legitimate way of looking at it. I feel the exact same way ... about cars. I don't care what vehicle I drive so long as it gets me to my destination reliably and with decent mileage. Bikes on the other hand...now that I do care about. Accidentally bought glossy white Fizik tape for my newest bike and I found it so awful I immediately had to order a replacement.
