Snaps... drill a small hole in the fender an melt the plastic back a bit from the hole, then mount a #6 snap. My problem has been finding the stainless steel button covers for the female side of the system. FWIW I have/had a Staiger Florida (German trekking bike) that used a similar system, but the terminal was some sort of rivet that was covered in a rubber coating. Next time the bike is home for servicing I will have to look a bit closer.
