talk about liberal- whole mexican villages were living in public storage units- they'd take over the whole facility, campers/motorhomes/popup and travel trailers that hadn't moved in years were parked on the streets and inhabited, one guy i knew was living on/in a sailboat in a friend's back yard (had a huge hole in the hull, set up on pallets), squatters'd buy a shed and put it on a vacant lot and live in it. sometimes there'd be a bunch on one lot, like a steinbeck hooverville, and hundred's sleeping in cars that may/may not run or even belong to them.

feel free to correct me if things have changed since 1984!

denver would have a coniption fit if it happened there. the town is already upset over the occupy denver park squatters.

england has neo-hippies called 'new age travellers'. nicer establishments have signs, 'no travellers'. back in the 60s you'd see 'no hippies' or 'hippies use side (or back) door' here in america. i think that was when the 'no shirt, no shoes, no service' signs came into being.
I thought "Travelers" were Gypsies in England? I must watch too much TV.
