I decided to make some significant modifications to one of my bikes. The 'Green Monster' has a bullhorn bar, as well as a double crank and more road-like gearing than my other hybrid, though mechanically they were almost identical. I decided to get some brifters and cross levers for the Monster, as I wanted to have the ability to brake and shift from the horns, where I spend most of my riding time. I did all the mechanical work myself, and the results are shown in the photos below.

Aside from some minor adjustment issues with the mini V-brakes I bought to work with the brifters, I couldn't be happier with the results. I've since ridden it over 100km, and I've been very impressed with the functionality of the Sora 3500 brifters I bought. It's also allowed me to be faster, as I don't have to move out of the horns to shift, and safer as I don't have to move out of the horns to brake. I was thinking of putting narrower tires on it (it has 28c tires at the moment) but I don't think that anything narrower would be able to put up with the broken pavement commonly found on many streets in Shanghai.
