You know, since you have a big tub of tubular glue, I'd try that. Save you buying another tube of stuff. As far as I'm concerned, tubular glue is much like, if not the same as, contact cement. Contact cement is very strong stuff and while not ideal for metal, for these applications, where there is no load on the adhesive, I'd feel comfortable using it.
