The stuck stem sucks big time. I had that problem with my old crossbike, though I had the luck that I wanted to replace the fork, which was a hideous unicrown with chrome in the worst of shapes. But there should be a couple of gurus around C&V that will be of help. Have you started a thread already on this?
Yeah, the bike has it's own thread. With the help of the search function I pretty much found what to do with the stem - tried every, and failed! so the hacksaw it was. Now my big anxiety is wether the CX tires I have on order will fit the frame but thanks to the excellent tip by ThermionicScott about using hex wrenches as feeler gauges I'm confident it will work out.
