I have always assumed carrying an expensive knife was some sort of prop for dudes that like to pretend they're super handy and outdoorsy.
I'm from a hick town. I use it for everything. Cutting open boxes/envelopes, cutting zip ties, grinding down fingernails if I'm bored, etching my name into tables at bars, emergency stuff like cutting ropes/cord that slipped off of whatever under tension and weight (stepdad has our property as a very small farm), digging in dirt, clearing some weeds and brush during yard work, and anything and everything in between. Tons of uses.
