ISIS bottom brackets are not external bearing designs but very similar to Shimano Octalinks. They have an internal cartridge that is usually threaded into a 68 mm English threaded bottom bracket shell or, more rarely, a 70 mm wide Italian threaded shell. They have splines at both ends of the spindle and the crank arms mate with these splines and are held by threaded bolts.
