I recently picked up a Peugeot UE-18 that I'm using as my first 'fix up' attempt, I chose it because I love it and also because it doesn't have a great deal of problems, just minor things I can do myself eg repacking the wheels, new brake and shifting cables, tires etc. I also replaced the Simplex derailleur with a NOS Suntour Honor I got for a bargain. My question is do I need to replace the simplex shifters as well or will they function with the new derailleur?
