quill's vs a heads
Hi All,
I am currently building up a Merckx pro corsa.
(Nice geometry for my size, It comes in almost spot on for the 'eddy fit' from the Competitive Cyclist Fit Calculator - i'm 6'2)
I have now all the components . . . apart from the stem and bars . . . and really want to get it finished and riding.
I have seen some really nice examples on here of quill adapters, and it solves the issue with limited choice of 26.0 bars running ergos (veloce in this case) so am really leaning towards this route.
Anyhow, what I was wondering is how the stem and bar height felt for anyone who had made the conversion. I don't really want a huge stack height, ideally just the headset and stem . . . (as in Running Doc's lovely build) but not sure if this is possible and still keep comfort?
I am no expert in mechanics, learning as I go along, but really want this bike to be a long time ride, which is comfortable for 100mile plus sessions, I am not going to be racing (I wish I was) so comfort is really what I am after.
So, in a nut shell . . . how is the reach /drop /etc for you guys?
Can i get looks and performance?
I know other factors come into it . . . . but any advice, opinions would be great.
Bars are another area I'm trying to nail down . . . but I suppose that's another post . . .
THANKS!
