There's nothing you can do. Maybe the dad was just saying something stupid as a reaction to the grief he felt when reminded of his loss. That's forgivable and his child won't come to harm from it.

Or maybe he has stupidity engraved on his very soul. The child might or might not find ways around that. But it's outta your hands.
