Oh dear cheers, I suppose since the bike was free I can allow maybe £30-£40 for repairs, any more than that and the bike is just not good enough to warrant that sort of money being spent on it so I will just buy a better bike, I'm sure the savings in petrol should more than justify the expense on a bike
If I were you, I would try to figure out how to take it apart by myself. If you can post make/model/year of the bike and better closeup pictures of the crank axle from both sides, I can try to find out which parts and tools you need.
