+1 on finding another mechanic. Setting up FD's for non-round rings is not your typical tune up or cable replacement. I have not delt with the Q rings, but spent a couple hours dialing in my FD with Osymetric front rings (which are much more "unround"). It ultimately required some filing on the FD and bracket; that's not something I'd put in the hands of the typical LBS tech.
