I did the gym thing for 20 years and even paid for personnel trainers for a few of those trying to loose weight and I always got same result, I put on weight in muscle. I finally talk to my doctor last year and we discussed what I wanted. I want to be under 190 pounds, he asked have I ever came close. The closest I came was 2005 when I took a break from gym to train for a marathon and I got down to 195. My doctor said stick with long duration steady cardio mixed with interval and sprint training on the bike and add some walking for load bearing and yoga for core and flexibility. So far it's working since I finally started that program, and seem to be on a steady minus two pounds a week. I hope this continues for awhile.
