Interesting. I know, in some states, like NY, it was [is?] illegal. It makes much more sense to actually pass the CC charges onto CC-using customers, than penalize everyone. I learned, when I was a kid in the 70's, that you didn't shop in a store that took Amex...'cause Amex used to charge the merchants 10%- so you knew anyone taking it, had to have the highest mark-ups! [I hear Amex got competitive some time ago...smart move for them]
