They might also use outside contractors to build bikes to reduce their liabiltiy. The store might not want their employees building the bikes. Just a thought. Nothing to base this thought off of, etc.
I thought that the advantage of using contractors is that they get paid but don't get any benefits and when the seasonal work is done, they just end the contract. No unemployment or severance pay.
