Of course I understand, I've done several "economic nonsense" upgrades and changes myself over the years and never regretted any of them.

However, on this forum we often get questions from new riders who want to "save money" by upgrading a poor quality bike with expensive components, who don't have a stash of usable parts, don't know what is compatible and can't do the work themselves. To those questions, I usually recommend they buy a better complete bike or get help from someone who understands the mechanical aspects and costs. I think this is one of those threads.
