Ultegra Di2 FD Screw Into Seat Tube

I picked up Di2 this past week. Researching how to install the front derailleur, I found some warnings to place a little metal plate behind the FD against the seat tube. (The FD came w/2 in the box.) Apparently there's a little screw that angles the derailleur cage and this screw pushes against the seat tube.
  1. The FD is currently aligned parallel with the large chainring (it looks that way and shifting performance is just as expected), so I don't need to use this screw to change the FD angle.
  2. I managed to see behind the FD and the screw is not touching the seat tube.

Do I still need to install these little metal plates?
If so, how? They come with what looks like double-sided adhesive tape, but I cannot--for the life of me--get the backing off it. I'm trying using tweezers & having no luck. It looks like if I continue I'll just tear apart the tape itself. The box had zero instructions.
