I picked up Di2 this past week. Researching how to install the front derailleur, I found some warnings to place a little metal plate behind the FD against the seat tube. (The FD came w/2 in the box.) Apparently there's a little screw that angles the derailleur cage and this screw pushes against the seat tube.
- The FD is currently aligned parallel with the large chainring (it looks that way and shifting performance is just as expected), so I don't need to use this screw to change the FD angle.
- I managed to see behind the FD and the screw is not touching the seat tube.
Do I still need to install these little metal plates?
If so, how? They come with what looks like double-sided adhesive tape, but I cannot--for the life of me--get the backing off it. I'm trying using tweezers & having no luck. It looks like if I continue I'll just tear apart the tape itself. The box had zero instructions.
