Today was my first commute in 2013 (ok, just a half commute - car in bike out). One way is 14mi. The ride was great. 43F, overcast but no precipitation during the ride and dry roads as soon as I left town. Just a slight headwind on the last 4 mile stretch going north to home. Also my first commute on my new CF bike - which I made sure to clean after I had to powernap for 3hrs from being so out of shape because of winter Only part that sucked was that my dirt road is still covered in an inch of soft pack snow and mud, so I carried my very light bike the 1/4 mile to home to keep it from getting filthy. I also do not yet have a computer on this bike - so it was an interesting experience for me not constantly worrying about my speed.
