Three pounds would be about 10,500 extra calories. That's a lot of beer and pizza! More likely, it's just part of your normal weight fluctuation. I weigh myself daily and find fluctuations of up to 2.6 lbs. from one day to the next, depending on hydration level, the amount of fiber in what I ate, and other such factors. The Beeminder graph in my signature shows the results; what's important is not the daily variation but the overall trend.
