opening bid of 5K seems to take flight from reality, esp when you consider that
"rims were retro-fitted in 1980's, quick release hubs were retro-fitted in 1980's, tires were retro-fitted in 1980's, rear derailer was retro-fitted in 1980's, gear shifter was retro-fitted in 1980's, seat was retro-fitted in 1980's, water bottle holder was added in 1980's" and all the chrome is pretty well peppered with rust

the rule of thumb, I guess, is get as much as you possibly can.
