You should had use your blueprint strength ammonia in the first place , it would had got the job done . The household ammonia is too water down and would not work . It can take mins, days or even weeks to remove a post this way . The fastest would be yes go ahead and cut it out ,clean the frame , buy a new post and move on with it .
