That piece of road is part of the official Pacific Coast Bike Route. This is why I take a lot of unpaved side roads when I ride from Eugene to Davis every year. Although I do often ride that stretch. I pick my day of week and time of day and ride it as fast as my fat body will go. Believe it or not, the conditions get even more dangerous for cyclists just south of there. Fortunately, the Lost Coast provides a long-cut around that southern portion.
