^^This worked for me. Restrictive diets never worked. As soon as I told myself I couldn't have a certain food, I'd crave it. About 15 years ago I got tired of diets and focused on portion control. I lost weight and have maintained my goal weight within 10 lbs since then.
It took about 12 months to retrain my brain and stomach so that eating less became a habit. Now I don't like the feeling of a very full stomach and only eat until I just start to feel full.
