A foreign tourist will have a hard time cashing a personal check anywhere (but home) with any kind of identification. I can't imagine any foreign tourist traveling without a credit card of some sort, cash, or traveler's checks (even they are not accepted everywhere.)
I was wondering if a foreigner would be required to show state I.D. in Maine to buy alcoholic beverages.
