If you really want hydraulic stuff, you can use Magura's hydraulic rim brakes. Also, if the fork isn't original, it might have disc brake mounts, depending on how new it is, but you'd still need a disc-compatible front wheel. Either way, if you bought all the necessary parts new, you'd be most of the way to the cost of a decent used bike with discs.
I was just kidding of adding hydraulics on this bike. Probably a waste of good new parts will have to be changed out. I am happy with my purchase of my rebuild parts selection and hopfully it meets or exceeds the old stuff i have on there now. Maybe when I'm 60, I'll buy a nice used 10 year old Cannondale CX2 for $200.

My best upgrade purchase was the sofa Bell Memory Foam seat. No butt pain felt even after my 15 mile ride. It does not rub against my thighs like I read others have mentioned. Probably the one who were complaining had much larger thighs than I have and i weighed in at 190 when i started riding agin last month. The seat looks on the larger side butt I got used to it (pun intended), it's on the heavy side for gram counters, but it makes my butt happy and painless. The rest of the bike parts will probably it give me as much pleasure of riding than my comfy sofa seat.
