Are you sure about that? What model? I've never seen or heard of any barend FRONT shifter that "clicked" or indexed, they are all friction shifters. Some have a fine tooth ratchet that helps equalize the effort in both lever directions but that is not indexing.
I have 8S Ultegra bar ends on my touring bike that do this. It has nothing to do with indexing a gear as the feel is
very slight, but it happens on a downshift from the big to middle chainring. I was told to rotate the adapter 90 degrees, which I dutifully did, but the 'bump' in the lever is the same. It wouldn't be felt shifting a double.
