I'm considering taking Amtrak up from AL to Cirque / Leesburg in May, and need some help.
I'm looking at bringing a bike/trailer on the train and cycling from the station to the event.
I moved away from NoVa back in '80, and a lot has changed since then.

The Manassas train station is only a few miles closer to Leesburg than the Alexandria depot, but I doubt the roads out there are as cycling friendly as the W&OD trial, which appears to be only about 3 miles from the Alexandria station. Or is the ALX arrival and transition to the W&OD going to be problematic? Or should I stick to Manassas? Or is there a reason to go into DC?

Since Amtrak is going to require me to box the bike, I have to figure out what to do with the box (or I may buy a case) between arrival and departure. Not sure if a depot locker (if any) would handle this, or if the station can keep it reserved for me. (Probably need to call them on this Q). I'd prefer not to have to drag it to Leesburg as well. I may just have to go for the box and buy another (if Amtrak won't keep it for me) for the return. Any other ideas?

Or if any of you local guys are planning on attending and can help a brother out, I'm all ears.
