commodus, thanks for you answer. to me, it doesn't seem like you have a 100% opinion one way or the other. i think i'd feel about the same as you... but never having had road shoes i can't say for sure.

i know i should just buy a set and see what i think but i am pretty poor these days so that few hundred dollars could buy me lots of other stuff like hotels and snacks on rides. i'd like to have a little more confirmation they are probably better for me before plotting, scheming, and padding slushfund accounts to pay for these commences
If I had to walk 10k in a pair of road shoes I'd take an allen wrench and pull the cleats off first.
