Have a look at the SUSTRANS web site I would not recommend the Formatine & Buchan Way (discused railway line running from Dyce to Fraserburgh); the surface is very rough and lots of lose gravel and/or very muddy if wet. OK for mtb's... Its badged as a cycle route, but its surface is a disgrace in places!
