the trek is alot cheaper therfore I could spend the extra money on wheels. I am kinda leaning the trek way just for this reason. any sugestions? Is there any chance that the dt axis 3.0 will support my weight. Again I am 285.

Being a heavy rider, I make sure to buy all my bikes as original owner. Buying a used bike is a risk and knowing we can break frames, going used may cost you more in the long run. Warranties are only honored via original owner and I have had 2 cases already at a lower weight than you.

There are several posters that went cheap by going the used route. Then after an issue, they whine in the forums and bash Trek for not honoring the warranty. What warranty, you bought used, you don't have one!
