This is the kind of scare message that can be said of anything. Of course things can break, but new things break too, and in any case the percentage of injuries from ALL mechanical failures is very small compared to the total number of crashes and injuries. If the OP is willing to assume the risks of riding on public roads, this rim won't significantly increase that.

BTW- Metal fatigue is a long term process, not something that hammering a dent can cause, so not an issue here.
