I just got a Trek bike that I think is a 1983 model. The serial number is under the cable guide, I can only see a 5 there. Suntour Blue Line derailleurs and shifters, 7 speed freewheel, Sakae crank. The bike appears to have very little use during its life. Someone must have changed the brake levers at some point. The shop I found it at changed the hoods and bar tape, the originals were dried out. They also had installed a new Brooks B17. Any help would be appreciated. This bike rides real nice and fits me like a glove, a keeper. Wifey is understanding, this is number 7, but I might be starting to push my luck!
