Early '80s Treks could be special ordered from Waterloo with upgrades. Check the hubs on your bike for date codes. If the dates tally with the model year, check the '82 & '83 Trek catalogs for other bikes equipped with that wheelset. If you find a match then a special order might explain why your bike is equipped with 700c.
