Urban pedals and double gate clips

Stop giggling

First off, this is NOT a discussion about clips vs clipless, for my purposes on this bike, clips and straps are the setup of choice - YMMV and that's cool too.

I broke a toe clip on Friday which means I HAVE to buy some new bits.
The other bike in my working pair has pedals that I'm not completely happy with.

I've been considering the MKS Urban pedal for the large supporting platform.

The GR-9 is too narrow for my feet and although the GR-10 has a longer spindle, the Urban has a larger platform. Ground clearance isn't an issue.

Normally, I'd just use a normal toe clip and single strap however, I wonder if there is any advantage to using double gate clips and double straps such as Scrod offers as a set.

I realise this sort of setup is a track setup and is designed for pulling the foot firmly into the clips. That is not how I'd be using them. I run my straps firm enough to give support but not so tight that I can't pull my foot out when stopping or pushing it in when taking off - this is very much an urban setup. I'm thinking the advantages for me would be a better distribution of pressure thanks to the larger contact area of the double gates and straps ie, improved comfort.

Worth a try?
