This year I'm targetting it though. Aiming for a 4:30 something (this is a lofty goal for me and 15 mins inside my best time).
Haven't been doing many events lately. But am getting back into it with goals being the silly time at Taupo and a sub hour 40km TT. Will be hard to acheive either - but I need to set lofty goals - as I've been drifting a bit lately...
Never done the Flyer - used to do the Graperide in the South Island instead - but not doing that either this year.
Be cool to have a Super Clyde team at Taupo! At least we could take turns at drafting each other

A 4:30 would be pretty ambitious of me. I'm reasonably sure I can be in 4:40-4:45 shape. Not sure about 4:30. I'll know more as we get closer. It would be awesome to have a decent super-clyde group for Taupo. I've talked with a couple of the big guys I've seen at recent events and everyone seems to agree. There are more than a few of us who would fit in the 4:30-4:50 start group.
How many 40k TT's do you find around the N. Island? I'm curious, 'cause after this years Taupo I suspect I'll be moving my focus to TT and pursuiting. Even club nationals is only 25k for Masters2, if I read the registration correctly. How long was that previous TT that you aimed for your first >40kph on?
The Flyer is April 6th if you're interested. They've reversed the course this year. It's starting in Taupo and finishing in Rotorua. Should be fun. I suspect the initial climb out of Taupo may do a better job of seperating the field than previous years.
We'll definately get a clyde group together for Taupo though. I can just imagine Waihi to Hatepe with a team of clydesdale locomotives doing the pulling:-)
