It's a mixed bag. More idiots up here, fewer BMW aholes. The natural beauty we are surrounded with is something you'd have no concept of unless you lived here. I can take my dog for a 2-3 mile long walk in the woods and fields right out my back door. The view from our house:



All this 30-40 minutes from Bergen, about an hour from Manhattan. I'm in Bergen all the time on weekends riding with friends. I would move back to Bergen if I had $1 million+ to dump into a primary residence. I do not. We're here mainly for financial security (we don't owe much on our beautiful house, and we don't want to leverage ourselves to the hilt in our mid 50s to buy a nice house in Bergen, one thing goes wrong for my business or our health and we're screwed).

There are things I don't like about living here, things I absolutely love. Like anywhere else I suppose. I lived in Bergen much of my life, i forgot more about that place than you'll ever know fatso.

However, the best line ever does to to PoP who did ask me shortly before he tried to jump on the Park Ridge Ride (aka the Tour de Phred) one fine Saturday 'what's the average speed of this ride?' Oh boy.






He was literally shelled within 3 miles.
