OP, you might try requesting to have the package shipped "Parcel Post" via USPS. It may take a little longer, but it is usually about 1/3 the cost of ground shipping. ...And it is usually something they will not suggest, but available if you request it. I had to ship a wheel that way last year and it worked out fine.
