I used POR-15 brush on for a bike that was consistently exposed to fog/mist conditions. I actually worked pretty darn well, but I was fairly meticulous about the application. It's pretty thick & heavy even when thinned, I don't think I'd use it for anything but a work bike.
I've been googling ways to clear coat steel and am curious about an update about POR15. I just got an old frame's seat stays fixed and am thinking about preserving the look rather than repainting it:
