You can even get a Street View "movie" on tripgeo.com. It lets you put in a route on a Google Map, and then links together the Street View images along that route into a sort-of time-lapse stop-motion movie. As long as the Street View cameras were able to go where your route goes, you can get a rough idea how much traffic is on those roads.
