Actually, from the OP it's not clear that they were putting him and his wife in danger and what is the definition or the relevance of mentioning their obesity?

They were putting my wife in danger as they were walking three abreast on the right side of the road forcing me into oncoming traffic heading to the city pool. Yes the oncoming traffic was indeed much busier. Yes, touce' about my own weight, although I am no longer at 245 pounds after some serious riding. I did buy an incredi bell from REI. Thanks for the responses and I especially appreciated those of you who focused on humor rather than being PC.
