For bmx bikes, we'd put water wings on the bars and seatpost.

I currently use an early 90's stumpjumper. Gone through quite a few different bikes, generally raid garage sales for different options, and useable older BMX models are increasingly harder to find. Bikes get burned through fairly quickly and of course you'll always have one or two here and there that inexplicably disappear at the bottom after even attempting to search for a bit...

Living in Minnesota is a pretty good venue for it. Not only lakes all over but lots of sheer cliffs with very steep drops into a good amount of water.
