- i did that once, about 30 years ago... spent half a summer upgrading and working on a 10-speed... did some great rides at the beach during August and September, then lent the bike to an out-of-state 'friend' for a couple months...
- when i saw the bike's condition later in the Fall, and how it was treated i was heart broken... (gouged frame, bent rims, stripped cables, etc.)
- not only did i lose a great bike, but i lost a friend as well...
