Jamis frame warranty prep

I purchased new a 2006 Jamis Sputnik in Jan-2007. 32,580 miles later in Aug-2011 the frame cracked around the bottom bracket area.

I understand Jamis has a lifetime warranty on frame. I'd like to try and get a replacement frame.

Perhaps a silly question: When I bring the bike to a Jamis dealer, is is preferred if the bike is in assembled condition? Since it broke I have used a wheel and the saddle for a new bike, the rear tire is removed. I'd rather not re-build up the frame to have it sit in a shop waiting for warranty determination while my other bike doesn't have a saddle or front wheel.

I can ask the bike shop, but rather I just do what is normal and not cause a fuss.
