Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires are their top rated tires for flat protection and durability. They're rated for up to 12,000kms wheras most of their standard tires are only rated for 2,000 to 5,000 kms

I ride mostly on Supremes myself which trade off a little durability (and more money) for lighter weight and better grip
There's another problem with the puncture resistant tires, they have higher rolling resistance as well.

I'd agree with onbike 1939 in that if you don't need the extra puncture resistance, having less rolling resistance is a nice reward.
